firm history

In 2000 Indus Capital was founded with $70 million in assets, split equally between two long/short funds:

Over our 22-year history, Indus Capital has grown organically and today manages $4.0B in assets in long/short and long-only strategies that are primarily focused on equity and equity-related investments in the Asia Pacific markets, including Japan.

The vision of our original co-Managing Partners was for Indus Capital to be the investment industry’s leading “purveyor of non-dollar equities”. With that goal in mind, and to support internal investment talent, we organically created and offered multiple diversified, yet complimentary strategies, to provide diversification for an institutional investor client base.

Since inception, Indus Capital has provided
17 investment funds focused on a variety of regions and investment strategies.

Concurrent with the generational transition in 2019 and coupled with the retirement of a few additional Portfolio Managers, our current Partners have chosen to streamline our investment offerings to focus on our core strengths.

Today, Indus Capital is centered around these three core investment areas:

Driven by investor demand in 2009, John launched a dedicated Pan-Asia long only portfolio, called Indus Select, which he has successfully managed since its inception.
